This Week in History
To support his sixteenth studio album, Shaman, Carlos Santana took the stage at Philips Arena on March 25, 2002. Following Santana’s incredibly successful Supernatural, Shaman debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 chart. While the performance did feature songs from the new album, Santana also sang some of his greatest hits, like “Maria Maria” and “Oye Como Va”. The album also featured multiple collaborations, with the likes of Michelle Branch, Chad Kroeger and Seal. However, on this night, Carlos Santana proved why he alone was named one of Rolling Stone magazine’s “100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time”.
